First UMC News
The adult study group at the First United Methodist Church of Gilford meets Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM in the church library, before the 10:30 worship service. Currently they are engaged in a seven-week study with a dual focus: “We are learning more about John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, and his own personal struggle of faith. As he matured in his faith, he developed an understanding of practical ways in which we can connect with God, such as reading the scriptures, praying, and reaching out to others. He called these practices “means of grace”. The other focus is to see how Wesley’s understanding of these spiritual disciplines can be applied to our own lives.” To learn more about the adult study group, speak to Marilyn Ayer who is leading the study or call the church office weekday mornings at 524-3289.
Wednesday Adult Class
At 2pm on Wednesday there is a Lectionary Based Study being held in the Fireside room. This class is open to anyone who wold like to attend.
The Tweens Class is small but mighty! Our mission project, in the fall, was about UMCOR (The United Methodist Commitee On Relief). We assembled eight health kits for hurricane stricken areas as our contribution to the church-project. Autumn Cooper participated in the Live Natvity in December. On Epiphany Sunday they rode our camels around the sanctuary. Presently, we are studying the New Testament and learning about Jesus and his life.
One Room Schoolhouse
Our church also offers a One Room Schoolhouse for those 5 years old and up as well as a Pre-school Program during the church service.
Stay tuned to hear more about these fun and engaging learning opportunites!
